For psychologists

SEO for psychologists, written with the APA Ethics Code open on the desk

Psychologists get found two ways: by people looking for therapy, and by people (often parents, physicians and schools) looking for an assessment. The two groups search differently. We plan pages for both, in copy you can put your license behind.

Two kinds of searches, two kinds of pages

Therapy searches look like those for any clinician: a concern or method plus a place ("psychologist for anxiety in Tucson", "CBT psychologist near me"). Here you compete with counselors and social workers as well as other psychologists, so the page has to show what your training adds.

Assessment searches are where many psychology practices can win outright. People search for the evaluation by name and compare providers on wait time, process and price:

  • "adhd testing for adults", "adult adhd evaluation near me"
  • "psychoeducational evaluation", "learning disability testing for kids"
  • "autism evaluation for adults", "autism assessment for children"
  • "neuropsychological testing", "pre-surgical psychological evaluation"

Each evaluation you offer deserves its own page: who it is for, who usually refers, what the process involves, how long it takes from first call to feedback session, what it costs and whether insurance applies. No diagnostic promises, no "find out if you have" language.

The APA Ethics Code, applied to a website

StandardWhat it says, brieflyWhat it means for your pages
5.01No false, deceptive or fraudulent statements about training, credentials, services, fees or results.Exact degrees, license and training. No outcome claims. Fees stated accurately.
5.02Responsibility for statements by others you engage; no paying for press coverage presented as news. You approve our copy. No paid "features" disguised as editorial.
5.04Care when giving advice through public media.Articles inform; they don't diagnose or treat readers.
5.05No soliciting testimonials from current therapy clients or others vulnerable to undue influence. No review requests to clients, no testimonial pages.
5.06No uninvited in-person solicitation of business from vulnerable people.Calm calls to action; no pressure or urgency.

This is a summary, not a substitute for the code. Your state board may have its own advertising rules, and they take precedence where they are stricter.

Telepsychology and PSYPACT

PSYPACT lets psychologists with the right authorization provide telepsychology into other participating states. For search, that can turn a one-city practice into a statewide or multi-state one, but only for the services and states you are actually authorized for. We build a page per state you serve, say plainly how you are licensed or authorized there, and leave out anywhere you are not.

Telehealth-only practices can't use a Google Business Profile, so these state pages, directories with telehealth filters and links from relevant sites carry the load.

Psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners

Prescribers are searched for differently: "psychiatrist accepting new patients", "medication management near me", "online psychiatrist in Texas", often with an insurance name attached. Pages that state availability, the insurance you take and how telepsychiatry works in your state answer those searches. We don't write about specific medications or what they will do; we write about your services.

Fees

A psychologist offering both therapy and several kinds of assessment usually has more pages worth building than a therapy-only practice, which is why Golden and Platinum are the common starting points.

Proof from another regulated profession

We don't have a psychology practice to show you. Our closest result is a Texas personal injury law firm, another profession bound by advertising rules, which gained 500% more qualified case inquiries in five months and reached the top 3 of the local map pack.

What I value most is the transparency. No vague promises and no 'secret sauce', just a clear strategy. Detailed reports every month, every question answered, and the plan adjusted when needed. Our search traffic has grown steadily since we signed up. It's refreshing to work with an SEO team that does exactly what it says.

Damian Troy

I've worked with different SEO providers for a decade and never expected to find one that lived up to its promises. A friend recommended this team. The reports were detailed and I could actually understand them. Every question got an answer within a day. The results didn't come overnight, but when they came they were what was predicted: steady keyword growth, higher rankings and, most important, more calls from customers.

Clients of our team in other industries, quoted with light edits for length. None of them is a therapist or a practice, and we would never ask your clients for testimonials.

Questions from psychologists

Does the APA Ethics Code allow psychologists to advertise?

Yes. The code does not forbid advertising; it forbids false, deceptive or fraudulent statements about your training, credentials, services, fees and results (Standard 5.01), soliciting testimonials from current therapy clients or others vulnerable to undue influence (5.05), and uninvited in-person solicitation (5.06). Accurate pages about what you do and what it costs are fine.

Who is responsible for what an agency writes on my site?

You are. Standard 5.02 makes psychologists responsible for public statements by people they engage to promote their practice. That is why every page we write goes to you for approval, and why we avoid claims you couldn't defend to your board.

Should a psychologist use "Dr." on the website?

Use your degree and license exactly as they are. Standard 5.01(c) says psychologists claim degrees as credentials only if they were earned from a regionally accredited institution or were the basis for licensure. Some states also have their own title rules, so check yours.

Can SEO help my testing and assessment practice?

Often more than therapy pages do. Assessment searches are specific ("adult ADHD evaluation", "psychoeducational testing") and the people searching, often parents, compare providers carefully. A page per assessment service, with who it is for, the process, timeline and fees, gives those searches something exact to match.

I am licensed through PSYPACT. Can I target other states?

Only for the telepsychology your authorization covers, and only in participating states. We build state pages only where you can legally provide services, and we state your licensure plainly on each. Check the current PSYPACT rules and your own authorization before we publish.

Do you also work with psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners?

Yes. The searches differ (medication management, new patient availability, insurance), and pages should describe services without claims about specific drugs or outcomes. The plans and the reporting are the same.
